When I go to use something that needs sound..a clip or a downloaded song.. I get a pop up box...saying the sound device is already in use by another program..
and yet, sometimes the only thing im using on my comp..is the downloaded music....
so im confused... bigtime

if rebooting dont fix that......hit cntrl alt and delete ..see what programs your running...Your simply running something on startup....Yahoo will do that....alot of programs you dont think ...screws with your sound card.
Mine does that too but usually rebooting helps.

Have you made any changes to your computer, or downloaded anything that may be messing with your sound?

Yeah, if you didn't intentionally change something a virus is a good possibility.

There are two things you should have. I'm sure you have a virus scan, but you may want to switch to this one

It's from a company called AVG and it's excellent.
The other thing is a firewall. This is the best free one you can get.

Yeah, firewalls are great when they are working right. When they are not they are a massive pain in the ass.
